Annual Cycle -- Temperature

4-times daily climatological 2-meter temperature from the NCEP CFSR reanalysis. Here the period of averaging is 1982-2010. The appearance of different time-series results from the fact that 00z and 12z temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere, for example, are considerably different during all seasons due to the proponderance of land vs. water as compared to the Southern Hemisphere -- and the diurnal effects of solar insolation. Africa at 12z is bathed in sunlight.
